Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a word correctable without increasing word dictionary capacity by providing a reading generating means in order to convert a recognition candidate character into the reading of the character, and comparing the reading of a character string, which is composed of the combination of the recognition candidate characters, to the reading of a reading object word. CONSTITUTION:By comparing a KANJI (Chinese character) reading table 21, in which the KANJI reading corresponding to the recognition object character is registered, a reading generating means 22, which generates the reading of the character corresponding to the recognition candidate character, and a word dictionary, in which the reading of the reading object word is registered, to the reading of the character string, a word selecting means 24 to correct and output the word is provided. That is, the reading generating means 22, which converts the recognition candidate character into the reading of the character, can also read to word with a different notation, and can reduce the capacity of the word dictionary. Thus, the word can be read without increasing the capacity of the word dictionary.
