PURPOSE:To obtain a desired sentence made of Kanji mixed with Kana by only inputting numeric values, which indicates a desired conversion level, due to the operator, by adding simple additional information to an independent word dictionary. CONSTITUTION:A character level item 8 and a correspondence item 9 are added to an independent word dictionary 2 as the first and the second additional information respectively. Numbers of the character level item 8 indicate use levels of corresponding characters of a declaration item 7, and the number of characters in Kana corresponding to every character of the declaration item 7 is stored in the correspondence item 9. When the operator inputs a numeric value indicating a desired conversion level to a processing part from an operation part and inputs a character string ''Hono'', ''Hon'', 1, and 2 are read out from the declaration item 7, the character level item 8, and the correspondence item 9 respectively, and they are compared with one another, and a character ''Hon'' of the declaration item 7 and a character ''o'' erased for retrieval are connected to obtain the conversion result ''Hono''.
