PURPOSE:To obtain a photoreceptive member having superior electrical, optical and photoconductive characteristics, image characteristics, durability and service environmental characteristics by forming a photoreceptive layer composed of a specified lower layer and a specified upper layer. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptive layer 102 composed of a lower layer 103 of AlSiH having a part contg. Al atoms, Si atoms and H atoms distributed ununiformly in the thickness direction and an upper layer 104 of a non-single crystalline material Non-Si(H,X) contg. atoms of at least one of Ge and Sn in a layered region kept in contact with the lower layer 103 is formed on an Al-based support 101 to obtain a photoreceptive member having extremely superior electrical, optical and photoconductive characteristics, image characteristics, durability and service environmental characteristics.
