Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the molten metal filling amt. of a molten metal filling machine easily and inexpensively by detecting the molten metal levels at a lower position side and high position side by a detection sensor at the stepping or inclining molten metal flow off part communicating to the cavity of a mold. CONSTITUTION:The stepping molten metal flow off pockets 7, 11 communicating to a cavity 6 are provided on a mold 1. A molten metal is filled from the nozzle 3 of a molten metal filling machine 2 into the gate cup 4 of said mold 1 and fed to the cavity 6 via molten metal 5. When it reaches said pockets 7, 11 of the molten metal flow off part from the cavity 6, its level is detected by respectively corresponding molten metal sensor 13, 14. A normal molten metal filling state is detected by the level of the pocket 7, an overfilling state by the level of the pocket 11 and misrun state with both molten metal sensors 13, 14 for the both pockets 7, 11 being turned off respectively.
