Abstract

PURPOSE:To securely detect a toner end by providing a means which controls the stationary position of a toner storage container according to the rest of toner in the toner storage container mounted rotatably through a support member and a means which detects the position of the toner storage container. CONSTITUTION:When an agitation rod 2 rotates as shown by an arrow A, the toner in a toner cartridge 1 is supplied to a developing device through openings 7 and 9. Thus, as the toner in the cartridge 1 decreases, the gravity center of the cartridge 1 shifts through the operation of a weight 5 and when almost all of the toner is supplied, the cartridge 1 stops almost right below the part of the weight 5. At this time, a sensor 13 sends a detection signal to indicates the toner end and also stops the operation of the machine. Consequently, the toner end is securely known.
