Abstract
PURPOSE:To judge operating states by detecting the resistance during vertical oscillations of a mold device which is provided with a foot roll unit and oscillates together with an oscillation table and making the calculation of the friction resistance of an ingot in a mold body possible. CONSTITUTION:At the start of casting, a mold body 1 and an oscillating table 4 including a foot roll unit 2 are oscillated vertically. At this time, the combined resistance of the friction resistance between the body 1 and an ingot and the resistance between the ingot and the roll of the unit 2 is detected with a displacement measuring device 12. During ascending of the body 1, the resistance between the ingot and the roll of the unit 2 is detected with a strain gage 11 affixed to the intermediate of a lock bolt 7. The resistance generated during descending of the body 1 is detected with a pressure sensitive element 10. From the above-described combined resistance, these detected resistances are subtracted, and the friction resistance of the ingot in the body 1 is calculated, whereby the diagnosis of the operating state is made possible.
