Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit the quantity of slack of the driving chain of a motor cycle to be simply and accurately known by providing scales which show the position of the chain vertically changing with the slack of the chain on the side surface of the submuffler attached to the main muffler.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust pipe 14 of a motor cycle, which is secured to the frame by means of a bracket 20, is provided with a muffler 15 comprising a main muffler 16 and a submuffler 17. The side surface of the submuffler 17 having a structure divided into the upper and lower portions is provided with indicating scales 19a and 19b showing the position of a chain 7 vertically changing with the slack of the chain 7. The normal position of the chain 7 is to be on the lower scale 19b. This permits the quantity of the slack of the chain 7 to be simply and accurately known.
