Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit switching operation between Y-connection operation and -connection operation without employing any mechanical winding switching mechanism, by providing two sets of 3-phase bridge circuits and two pieces of switches. CONSTITUTION:When all of the switches 31-36 of a bridge circuit 3 are put ON and the switches 4, 5 are put OFF, terminals X, Y, Z become the same potential and are intercepted from the positive pole terminal and the negative pole terminal of a DC voltage source 1, therefore, a motor 6 is connected in Y-connection. When the motor 6 is to be connected in -connection, the switches 4, 5 are put ON and the switches 31-36 of the bridge circuit 3 are put ON/OFF by a PWM signal. The switches 21-33, 22-31, 23-32, 24-36, 25-34, 26-35 are put ON/OFF by the same PWM signal. As a result, the U-terminals of the windings 61-63 become the same potential as the Z-terminals of the same windings, the V-terminals of the same windings become the same potential as the X-terminals of the same windings and the W-terminals of the same windings become the same potential as the Y-terminals of the same windings, therefore, the motor 6 becomes equivalent to the -connection.
