Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a swirl generable in an effective manner by forming a deflecting wall, deflecting suction air to one side of the suction port sides, in an inner wall of a common suction passage of suction passages being interconnected to two suction ports to be installed at each cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: Two suction ports 8 and 9 to be opened to a combustion chamber 7 of an engine are formed so as to be adjoined in the direction of a virtual line l existing in a flat surface orthogonal with a cylinder axial center O and extending in the cylinder banking direction. And, after being interconnected to a suction pipe 14 being connected to a cylinder head 3 by cylinders, a common suction passage 15 and both first and second branch suction passages 16 and 17 being connected to the downstream end and partitioned off by a partition wall X are formed in the cylinder head 3. And, a deflecting wall 19 is formed in a side wall at the opposite side to the first suction port 8 indirection of the virtual line l, out of a side wall of the common suction passage 15 to be situated in just the upstream of the partition wall X. With this constitution, a strong swirl is made generable in a combustion chamber 7 owing to suction air out of the first suction port 8.
