Abstract

PURPOSE:To make an engine compact by transmitting the rotary motion of a power take-off shaft connected with a crank shaft, to each of can shafts of both cylinder banks, through a common belt. CONSTITUTION:A power take-off shaft 26 is connected on the opposite side to a flywheel 20 of a crank shaft 11, through reduction gears 24, 25. An intermediate shaft 23 which extends in parallel with the crank shaft 11, is connected to the power take-off shaft 26 in an integrated one body. Each of cam shafts 16 of a pair of cylinder banks 12 and the flywheel 20 side end of the intermediate shaft 23, are connected with each other by a common belt 31. With this constitution, cam pulleys 29, 30 can be miniaturized, and the engine can be made compact.
