Abstract
PURPOSE:To alleviate the dust raising condition at the time of dissolving slaked lime, etc., and to reduce the Fe<2+> content in a waste steel pickling soln. to <1.0mg/l by adding a composition contg. specified amts. of quick lime, slaked lime, calcium carbonate, and impurities into the waste soln. CONSTITUTION:The waste pickling soln. generated from respective pickling stages is collected in a waste soln. regulating tank 1, sent to a neutralization tank 2, mixed with a composition 12 therein, and neutralized to form the hydroxides of heavy metals. The composition 12 contains <=60% quick lime, 23-83% slaked lime, 7-25% calcium carbonate, and <=10% impurities. The waste pickling soln. neutralized in the neutralization tank 2 is catalytically oxidized by air 9 in an aeration tank 3 to form the hydroxides of heavy metals easy to settle, and then sent to a settling tank 5. The hydroxides of heavy metals are separated in the settling tank 5, the amt. and quality of the treated water are checked in a treated water tank 6, and then the treated water is discharged.
