Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize the space occupied by the pre-assembly of a switching tube in a vacuum furnace by providing a metallic plate one end of which is fixed to a metallic end plate with metal solder or by welding and the other end of which is touched to the inner wall of a cylindrical insulator. CONSTITUTION:After completing assembly of parts, the whole pre-assembly of a vacuum switching tube 1 is performed by arranging partially assembled metallic end plates 3a, 3b and metal solder 10 on both ends of a cylindrical insulator 2 respectively. As the said partially assembled end plate is inserted in the insulator 2, the metallic plate 9 fixed to the said end plate is contacted to the inner wall of the insulator 2 at the bended portion 9b and touching end 9c, and slided down and deformed until the touching end 9c is touched to the inner wall at the completion of the pre-assembly. Then the pre-assembly is soldered in high vacuum to manufacture a vacuum switching tube 1. Thereby devices, jigs and tools for supporting the pre-assembled position can be made unnecessary and the space occupied by the pre-assembly in the vacuum furnace and the weight of the pre-assembly can be minimized.
