CONSTITUTION:In an engine 1, there are provided with a throttle valve 4, a fuel injection nozzle 7 and a spark plug 8 each in its suction passage 2. And, this fuel injection nozzle 7 and an igniter 9 are controlled by a control unit 17 on the basis of each detected signal out of various sensors 12-16 detecting state of the engine 1 and an air flow meter 5, a distributor 11. In this case, a desired air-fuel ratio for feedback control over an air-fuel ratio with a variation in the driving state of the engine 1 should be set as delayed to the setting of another desired air-fuel ratio for fuel quantity compensation. With this constitution, the responsiveness of air-fuel ratio feedback control is improved while checking the worsening of emission.
