Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the follow-up of objects to be controlled to the transverse meandering of a strip by providing means for computing the position command values for the objects to be controlled in accordance with the signal difference of a pair of position detectors which are the object to be controlled for the strip and the signal difference of a pair of distance detectors. CONSTITUTION:This device for controlling the follow-up to the meandering of the metal strip 10 is constituted of a pair of the position detectors 13 for edge masks 12, a pair of meandering detectors 14, a controller 15 and a pair of position controllers 16 for the edge masks 12. The difference between the detected values L1 and L2 of a pair of the position detectors 13 is computed by a 1st subtractor 15a and the difference between the detected distance values V1 and V2 of the meandering detector 14 is computed by a 2nd subtractor 15b, by which the feedback quantity is determined. The deviation between each feedback quantity and the set value, i.e., the deviation X1 of the spacing between the edge masks 12 and the deviation X2 of the quantity of the shift in the central position are determined by a 3rd computing element 15c and a 4th computing element 15d. The controller 15 subjects the deviations X1, X2 to non-interference by matrix computation, by which the position command values Z1, Z2 to a pair of the edge masks 12 are determined.
