Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the memory capacity and enable accurate online control, by convertng the coordinates the strip widthwise distribution of the output of shape detecting element, and obtaining the coefficient showing the strip shape.
CONSTITUTION: The output of a shape detector 9 is fed in an coordinates converting device 10. When the output Y becomes as shown by curve 9b, the X-coordinate is shifted so that the coordinates are converted as shown by 9a. As a result, it is regarded that the plate is being passed with the center of a strip 8 coinciding with the line center. This converted shape detection output is fed in a pattern recognition device 11. The recognition device 11 retrieves the corresponding row, and a coefficient of fourth-order relation showing the strip shape is determined, and an evaluation value C representing the deviation from the target shape is outputted. Receiving this output, a shape control device 12 outputs command signals D, E, F to make the deviation zero, thereby controlling the screw-down position, rolling pressure, bending pressure, and intermediate roll position.
