Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an ion selective electrode which can make precise and exact measurement with a simple operation by providing a solid phase standard layer to one of a pair of ion selective half cells. CONSTITUTION:A silver foil laminated tape 2 stuck with silver 3 on an electrically insulating base 1 is prepd. The surface of this tape is cleaned and is masked for a prescribed width; thereafter, this tape is immersed in a potassium chloride soln. The silver foil is connected to a positive electrode and a platinum plate to negative, then the tape is energized, by which a silver chloride layer 4 is formed thereon. An ion selective film 5 is thereafter so formed as to cover the silver chloride 4. The solid phase standard layer 6 is provided on the ion selective film of one of the ion electrode pair formed in such a manner. Filter paper 7 is stuck in such a manner as to cover both of the ion selective films of the half cell (standard half cell) on the side provided with the solid phase standard layer and the half cell (measuring half cell) on the side where said layer is not provided. A standard liquid is dropped onto such element and the concn. of the standard soln. at which the output voltage drops to zero is investigated. While a voltmeter is held connected to the respective conductive base body parts of a pair of the half cells, a sample is dropped into the spacing between the half cell and the half cell. The generated voltage is read with a previously formed calibration curve. The concn. is thus known.
