Abstract

PURPOSE:To decide the deterioration state of an ion selecting electrode rapidly through simple operation by dipping the ion selecting electrode and a counter electrode in a solution which contains ions to be measured at prescribed concentration, and discharging charge accumulated in a capacitor to between the electrode and counter electrode. CONSTITUTION:An ion selecting electrode 11 to be measured is installed in a cell 12, and a counter electrode 13 is arranged opposite to the electrode 11. Between the electrode 11 and counter electrode 13, a capacitor 14 stored with a prescribed amount of charge previously and a switch 15 driven by a relay 16 are connected. Then, a variation in the discharging potential of the capacitor 14 applid between the electrode 11 and counter electrode 13 is recorded on a voltage recorder 23 through an operational amplifier 22. While the ion selecting electrodes maintains excellent performance, the migration of charge on the ion selecting film and a liquid surface to be measured is fast. For this purpose, time variation in the discharging speed of the charge of the capacitor 14 is checked to decide the propriety of the electrode easily.
