Abstract

PURPOSE:To control a transversal type automatic equalizing circuit, independently of the sampling phase by multiplying the content of an output of a transversal filter with the content of a memory circuit, averaging the values and outputting a tap coefficient of the transversal filter according to the mean value. CONSTITUTION:A transversal filter 2, a multiplier 3 and an adder 4 constitute an equalizing section of a conventional transversal type automatic equalizing circuit. A memory circuit 6, a multiplier 6, and an averaging circuit 7 calculate mean power E at the output point of the equalizing circuit. A control circuit 8 decides the tap coefficient by the computed E. When the value E is smaller than a prescribed value, each tap coefficient is increased simultaneously according to a prescribed rule and when the value E is larger than a prescribed value, each tap coefficient is decreased simultaneously according to a prescribed rule, thereby controlling the value E to a prescribed value. The inter-code interference is made zero when the value E reaches a prescribed value.
