CONSTITUTION: Input signal (vi) from transmission line 11 is supplied to both variable gain circuit 12 and level sensor 13, where the effective value of the signal is detected to generate a DC voltage equivalent to the input signal level, and its output is supplied via gain circuit 14 with a gain of "-1" to circuit 12 so as to control its gain, so that the output will be sent out to transmission line 16. Consequently, an output signal level of a fixed value can be obtained regardless of the variation in input signal level
