Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain high density magnetic recording and reproduction by opposing a minute gap of a superconduction separating layer to an electrode of a magnetic sensor having an electrode sensing magnetism so as to reduce the separation loss between a magnetic head and a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic sensor 1 having an electrode at both ends of a magneto-resistance effect element whose thickness is (t), width is (w) and length is L is arranged perpendicularly to a magnetic recording medium 7 having a magnetic recording medium layer 5 whose thickness is delta and the superconduction separating layer 3 having a minute gap 4 with a width (a) and at least the length L is interposed between the sensor 1 and the medium 7 and the minute gap 4 is arranged beneath the tip 2 of the sensor 1. Then the width (a) of the minute gap 4 is decreased more than the minimum magnetizing width (b) on the medium layer 5 and the width (t) of the sensor 1 is selected less than the width (a). Since the signal magnetization of opposite polarity in the adjacent part is blocked by the separating layer 3 and does not enter the sensor 1 when a signal magnetization in the medium layer 5 enters the sensor 1 through the minute gap 4, the separation loss at magnetic recording and reproduction is reduced largely.
