Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve recording characteristics, to increase the density of recording and to improve reproduced output and reproduction sensitivity by providing a superconductive layer between the magnetic recording substrate and magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The superconductive layer 3 is provided between the magnetic recording substrate 1 and the magnetic layer 2. The magnetic flux from a gap B of a head A is repulsed by the Meissner effect of the superconductive layer 3 and, therefore, about 100% of the magnetic flux passes the magnetic layer 2 without arriving at the substrate 1. Since there is the superconductive layer 3, the magnetic flux phi biases to the magnetic head A side at the time of reproduction. The recording characteristics are thereby improved and the high-density recording is enabled; in addition, the reproducing sensitivity and the reproduced output are improved.
