Abstract

PURPOSE:To reproduce a recorded signal with high sensitivity and at a high S/N ratio, by providing a gap between the subordinate magnetic electrode of a magnetic head forming a magnetic path of a closed loop and the recording surface of a vertical magnetizing film. CONSTITUTION:On a base 1, a horizontal magnetizing film 2 and a vertical magnetizing film 3 are laminated to form a recording medium. A magnetic head 6' has a main magnetic electrode 4' and a subordinate magnetic electrode 5' which oppose to the recording surface of the vertical magnetizing film 3, and forms a magnetic path of a closed loop during reproduction. Further, a gap G is provided between the subordinate magnetic electrode 5' of the head 6' and the recording surface of the vertical magnetizing film 3. Then, the tip of the main electrode 4' comes into close contact with the recording surface and the sectional area of the main electrode 4' is reduced as small as possible. Thus, since the magnetic head which forms the closed-loop magnetic path during reproduction is used, a recorded signal is reproduced with high sensitivity, and the gap reduces the influence of a magnetization pattern under the subordinate magnetic electrode extremely, increasing an S/N ratio.
