Abstract
PURPOSE:To hold stably the orientation of magnetization at the initial value, by tilting the magnetization of a magneto-resistance element to the surface of a recording medium and at the same time forming a cut to a part of the magneto- resistance element with the orienting angle of the magnetization of the magneto- resistance element. CONSTITUTION:The magnetizing direction of a magneto-resistance element (MR element) 4 that senses the change of a magnetic field as a change of the resistance value is oriented by angle theta of inclination to the lengthwise direction. At the same time, a cut 5 is given to the back of the element 4 with angle theta. As a result, the counter magnetic field of the element 4 is not in the direction of the height (h) but in the oblique direction (a). Thus the magnetizing direction can be easily held at the initial value theta, and accordingly, a large bias magnetic field is not required for the element 4.
