Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable sliding at a specified spacing maintained at all times by providing a sliding layer consisting of a nonmagnetic self-lubricative material between the magnetic pole surface of a magnetic core and recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The sliding layer 14 consisting of the nonmagnetic self- lubricative material is provided between the magnetic pole surface 11a of the magnetic core 11 and the recording medium 3 so as to cover the front surface 10. The magnetic pole surface 11a is moved at the specified distance (d) maintained at all times from the recording medium 3 by bringing the sliding layer 14 into sliding contact with the recording medium 3. The sufficiently strong modulation magnetic fields necessary for recording are thereby applied to the medium. In addition, the spacing is easily settable at a very small value and the constitution is simplified. The miniaturization and simplification of the device constitution are thus enabled.
