Abstract

PURPOSE: To regulate a refrigerant circulating amount in a cycle by a method wherein a motor-driven expansion valve, regulating the dryness of refrigerant, is connected to the refrigerant inflow side of a liquid tank and another motor-driven expansion valve, regulating the pressure reducing degree, is connected to the outflow side of the same while the liquid tank is provided in the ventilating passage in an outdoor unit. CONSTITUTION: A liquid tank 9 is provided in a ventilating passage in an outdoor unit 6 and, upon cooling operation, a motor-driven inflating valve 11 of the side of an outdoor heat exchange 7, is connected to the inflow side of the liquid tank 9 to regulate the circulating amount of refrigerant while a motor-driven expansion valve 10 of the side of an indoor heat exchanger 2 is connected to the outflow side to regulate a pressure reducing degree. The opening degree of the expansion valve 10 is large upon normal load whereby refrigerant flows into the liquid tank 9 while the opening degree is small upon a low load whereby the dryness of the refrigerant becomes high and gas constituent is increased. When the refrigerant is supplied into the liquid tank 9, the refrigerant is cooled by heat exchange between outdoor air and a part of the gas constituent is liquefied whereby the level of liquid in the liquid tank 9 can be retained at a certain level. Further, refrigerant liquid, separated from gas through gas/liquid separation, is supplied into the expansion valve 11 for pressure reduction and the pressure of the same is reduced.
