Abstract

PURPOSE: To defrost an outdoor heat exchanger efficiently without interrupting heating operation by providing a defrosting heat exchanger for exchanging heat with the cooling water of a prime mover on the body of the outdoor heat exchanger and circulating cooling water through the defrosting heat exchanger via a switching valve. CONSTITUTION: At the time of heating, a prime mover 1 drives a compressor 2 to flow refrigerant in the direction of an arrow 21 so that outdoor heat exchangers 4, 6 function, respectively, as a condenser and an evaporator to perform heating operation by supplying hot air into a room. When the outer air temperature drops and the body of the heat exchanger 6 is defrosted, a three-way valve 12 is switched to feed cooling water from a heat storage tank 14 to the prime mover 1 by means of a circulation pump 7. After the prime mover 1 is cooled, cooling water is fed through the valve 12 to the heat exchanger 16 on the body of the heat exchanger 6 (in the direction of arrow 23) which is defrosted by the heat of the cooling water.
