Abstract

PURPOSE: To optimize the flow rate of refrigerant by providing the liquid pipe between an outdoor unit and a multicontrol unit with a main flow control valve for refrigerant and coupling high and low pressure pipes with a sub-three way valve of each indoor unit thereby operating one indoor heat exchanger on the condenser side while the other on the evaporator side at the time of simultaneous cooling/heating operation. CONSTITUTION: When an indoor unit 13 performs heating operation during cooling operation of indoor units 11, 12, opening of each sub-flow rate control valve 14 of the units 11 12 is kept as it is while the sub-flow rate control valve 14 of the unit 13 is set at heating request capacity. Opening of a main flow rate control valve 30 provided for a liquid pipe 19 is set at a level determined by subtracting the opening of the sub-flow rate control valve 14 of the unit 13 from the total opening of sub-flow rate control valve 14 of the units 11, 12. Consequently, refrigerant is condensed in the indoor heat exchanger 17 of the indoor units 11, 12 to perform heating operation and it is further fed from a check valve 15 and the sub-flow rate control valve 14 through the sub-flow rate control valve 14 of the unit 13 and a cooling expansion valve 16 to an indoor heat exchanger 17 where it is evaporated for cooling operation before returning back to an indoor unit 8 through a sub-three way valve 22.
