Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent an open heat exchanger utilizing exhaust of an engine from low temperature corrosion by insulating said heat exchanger from a cooling water heating heat exchanger when temperature in exhaust outlet is less than a set value. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas of an engine heats heat medium in an open heat exchanger 22. Said heat medium heats cooling water from the engine while it passes through pipes 36, 37 and a heat exchanger 27, and heated cooling water exchanges heat with the secondary side 35 in a heat exchanger 28. When temperature detected by a temperature detector 24 is higher than a set value, for example 150 deg.C, the heat medium flows between the heat exchangers 22, 27, and when outlet temperature is lower than the set value, the heat medium flows through a bypass 38 by a three-way valve 39 and does not pass through the heat exchanger 27. Thus, the heat medium is heated by relatively high temperature exhaust gas, and temperature in said heat exchanger 22 is held at one higher than dew point of exhaust gas formations, so that any corrosive formations are generated by the condensation of exhaust gas and heat recovery can be controllled by the single three-way valve 39 to simplify the control system.
