Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of a pseudo gap by forming a magnetic metallic material of a thin ferromagnetic Ni-Mn system alloy film and a thin Fe-Al-Si system alloy film having specific compsns. and forming a thin ferromagnetic Ni-Mn system alloy film between the ferromagnetic oxide surface and the thin Fe-Al-Si system alloy film. CONSTITUTION:The surfaces of magnetic core half body pieces 10, 11 which consist of the magnetic metallic material and which surfaces serve as butt surfaces are worked to flat and distortion-free surfaces of high accuracy and thereafter, the ferromagnetic Ni-Mn system alloy films 13 contg. 70-90wt.% Ni and 5-25wt.% Mn is deposited on the surfaces near a magnetic gap 12 and further, the thin Fe-Al-Si system alloy film 14 which is, so-called 'SENDUST(R)' film, is deposited and formed thereon. After these magnetic core half bodies are worked to a prescribed shape, the core half bodies are butted to each other to form the magnetic gap. The so-called pseudo gap is thereby substantially eliminated and the waving of frequency characteristics is extremely decreased; in addition, the magnetic metallic material is required to be a relatively thin film and, therefore, the time is not required for the deposition and formation thereof. The composite type magnetic head having high reliability and good wear resistance is thus obtd.
