Abstract

PURPOSE:To form track width with high accuracy by forming a ferromagnetic metallic film forming face on an abutting face like a V-shape and forming a reversed V-shaped like track width regulating film along the tip of said forming face. CONSTITUTION:The V-shaped ferromagnetic metallic film forming face is formed on the abutting face of a core half 21 and a ferromagnetic metallic film 23 such as 'Sendust(R)' is applied to the surface of the forming face. The reversed V-shape like groove is notched along the tip of the metallic film 23 to form the track width regulating groove 26 and the metallic film 23 and the regulating groove 26 are filled with high melting point glass 28. A core half 21' having similar constitution is formed and both the core halves are properly opposed and joined to form a core block 31 and the core block 31 is cut along a cutting line 32 to obtain a head 20. Consequently, the accuracy of the track width can be improved and only the high melting point glass is left on a tape sliding face so that the generation of defective abrasion can be prevented.
