Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high tensile steel plate having the excellent brittle fracture generation resistance characteristic of a weld heat-affected zone by subjecting a steel specified in C, Si, Mn, N, Ti, and Al to heating, hot rolling and cooling in the stages under prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:The steel consisting, by weight %, of 0.03-0.15% C, 0.05-0.5% Si, 0.5-2% Mn, <=0.003% N, 3X[N]-0.02% Ti, and 0.005-0.05% Al is prepd. This steel is heated to 900-1050 deg.C. After the steel is heated, the steel is subjected to the pass to attain >=1alpha rolling shape ratio expressed by the equation (where H0: the thickness before the pass, H: the thickness after the pass, R: the roll diameter of rolling mills) in the austenite uncrystallization region of the Ar3 transformation point-(Ar3 transformation point +100 deg.C). The steel plate is cooled down to 500-600 deg.C at >=2 deg.C/sec cooling rate right after the end of this hot rolling.
