Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a superconductor against occurrence of quench, by predicting a quench occurrence condition from information received by various kinds of sensors provided near a high-tension conductor and a return conductor which are composed of superconductors. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of an AC superconductive cable 20 having high- tension conductor in its inside a thermocouple 7 is provided. A return conductor current detection transformer 10 wound around with a primary coil is provided to an earthing conductor 5A of an external return conductor 5. A return conductor current and waveform detection transformer 9 wound around with a primary coil is provided so as to surround the outside circumference of the AC superconductive cable 20. The output of sensors is inputted into an arithmetic logic device 11, with which the occurrence of quench is predicted and if there is a possibility of its occurrence, then the output is put out.
