Abstract
PURPOSE:To rapidly detect a quench and to isolate it from a power source by introducing a primary winding voltage and a secondary winding voltage to obtain the difference of both, and isolating a superconducting transformer from the power source when its level falls out of a predetermined range. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting transformer 1 in which primary winding 4 and a secondary winding 5 are formed of superconducting wires detects the primary winding voltage and the secondary winding voltage, and applies them to a subtractor 28. A signal (e) corresponding to the difference of both the voltages calculated by the subtractor 28 is introduced to a full-wave rectifier 29 to obtain its level signal (f). Then, the signal (f) is compared by a comparator 30 with a predetermined level value (g), and an output (h) for isolating the transformer 1 from a power source 11 is output when the signal (f) falls out of the range of the value (g). Thus, the quenches of the windings 4, 5 can be detected with high responsiveness, and an adequate process can be immediately performed.
