Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic shield which can effectively prevent a magnetic flux from leaking even when shield units are shortened and the shield units are disposed through a gap by circumferentially providing superconductors held in a superconducting state around the gap between the shield units. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic shields 2 are formed, for example, by longitudinally disposing many shield units 3 through a predetermined gap 5 therebetween on a linear line, superconductors 6 are circumferentially disposed over between the opposite ends of the units 3 to cover the gap 5 as one unit, and a plurality of units are disposed laterally at a predetermined gap and mounted on the wall 1 of a tank. Thus, the leakage of a magnetic flux through the gap between the shield units is eliminated, the loss, local overheat of the tank or the like containing an electric device can be prevented, the shield unit 3 itself is shortened to alleviate an excessive load to the tank or the like to enhance the safety of the tank, and the whole load can be further moderated.
