Abstract

PURPOSE:A powerful insect repellent that contains 6,6-dimethyl-2,10- epoxybicyclo[3,1,1]heptane as an active ingredient, thus showing excellent insect repellency even with a small amount and sustaining the action for a long period of time. CONSTITUTION:6,6-Dimethyl-2,10-epoxybicyclo[3,1,1]heptane is used as an active ingredient. The compound tends to sublime and the vapor has excellent insecticidal activity as well as good properties of repelling insect, i.e., effective against specific insect such as clothes moth with reduced toxicity to men and animals without contamination and damage to clothes. Thus, it can be expected to substitute conventional insect repellents. As it is liquid at room temperature, the compound is used in a solid form by impregnating a suitable carrier such as cardboard, woven cloth or porous material with the compound or by solidifying it with a gelling agent.
