Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a safe insecticide to be expected as an insecticide especially for clothes, having excellent insecticidal effects with a small amount, capable of prolonging the effects for a long period, containing benzoic acid as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:An insecticide containing benzoic acid which is a solid having 122.4 deg.C melting point, is obtained as a free or combined type, has high safety, slight sublimation and improved insecticidal properties by a vaporized gas thereof, as an active ingredient. The benzoic acid is obtained by oxidizing toluene. The compound is impregnated into a proper holding carrier such as filter paper, etc., or dispersed into a sublimating insecticide such as camphor, etc., to increase the surface area of the benzoic acid and preferably used. Benzoic acid thus obtained is packed into an air-permeable bag such as Japanese paper or stored in a moistureproof cellophane having bored small holes as existing subliming insecticides and used.
