Abstract

PURPOSE:An insect repellent that contains (1S)-(-)-4,6,6- trimethylbicyclo[3,1,1]hept-3-en-2-one as an active ingredient, thus manifesting excellent insect repellency even with a small amount and maintaining the effect for a long period of time. CONSTITUTION:(1S)-(-)-4,6,6,-Trimethylbicyclo[3,1,1]hept-3-en-2-one is used as an active ingredient for an insect repellent. The compound tends to sublime and the vapor shows excellent insecticidal activity as well as good insect repel lency for clothes, i.e., effective against specific insects such as clothes moth with reduced toxicity without contamination or damage to clothes. Thus, it can be expected to substitute conventional insect repellents. Since it is liquid at room temperature, the compound is used in the solid form by impregnating a suitable carrier such as cardboard, woven cloth or porous materials with the compound or by solidifying it with a gelling agent.

ベルベノンと呼ぶ。)が昇華性を有し。
