Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive humectant, containing an extract of soybean hypocotyls prepared by using water, a lower alcohol or blend thereof as an extracting solvent as an active ingredient, having excellent humectant action and safety and useful for the skin and hair. CONSTITUTION:A humectant for the skin and hair, containing an extract obtained by extracting soybean hypocotyls with water, a lower alcohol, such as methanol or ethanol, or a blend thereof, preferably a blend of the lower alcohol with water in about 40-60% alcohol concentration as an essential ingredient and capable of producing a cosmetic having excellent humectant performance by sufficiently blending therein since this humectant can be more stably supplied with higher safety at a lower cost than those of a conventional humectant.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention The present invention relates to moisturizers for the skin and hair.

Conventional technology Healthy skin and hair have a moderate amount of moisture, so they normally maintain an appropriate amount of moisture without any special treatment. However, when the moisture content decreases due to aging or other causes, A lack of moisture in the outer layer of the skin (the stratum corneum) causes so-called chapped skin, dry hair, split ends, and winged hair. Humectants are external preparations for restoring the moisturizing properties of skin and hair that have become abnormal due to decreased moisturizing properties, as described above, and are usually used in cosmetics in appropriate amounts. Substances that are effective as moisturizers include NMF (natural moisturizing factor) and mucopolysaccharides, but these are rare in nature and the cost of extraction and purification is high, so they are not commonly used in cosmetics. It was rarely incorporated sufficiently.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention In view of the fact that conventional moisturizers are expensive as mentioned above and are rarely incorporated into cosmetics to the extent that they can be expected to have a satisfactory moisturizing effect, the present invention has been developed to develop an inexpensive moisturizing agent. The aim is to provide a novel moisturizer that is also highly safe.

Means to Solve the Problems The present inventors repeatedly screened for a highly safe natural substance that has the same or better performance as a moisturizer than NMF and mucopolysaccharides, and as a result, they discovered soybean hypocotyl. It has been found that an extract obtained by extraction with water, lower alcohol, or a mixture thereof (hereinafter referred to as soybean hypocotyl extract) is suitable for the purpose.

The present invention is based on the above findings, and provides a moisturizing agent containing a soybean hypocotyl extract as an active ingredient.

The soybean hypocotyl extract constituting the humectant of the present invention can be easily obtained by simply extracting soybean hypocotyl as described above.

The soybean hypocotyl is the part of the young plant axis with less than 41 cotyledons of the soybean, and although it does not occupy a large proportion of the whole soybean, since soybean consumption is large, it is used in soybean milk, tofu, etc.
It can be obtained in abundance by separating it from those used in the production of soy sauce and other products. An example of a method for separating the hypocotyls from soybeans is to heat the soybeans to make them soft, apply mechanical stress to peel them, and then sieve the semi-split cotyledons and hypocotyls.

The most suitable solvent for extracting ingredients effective as a humectant from soybean hypocotyls is a mixture of lower alcohols such as methanol or ethanol and water (alcohol concentration of about 40-60%). However, water or alcohol may also be used. Substances extracted from soybean hypocotyls by these methods are rich in arginine and many other free amino acids and saponins, and these components are thought to be primarily involved in the moisturizing effect. It has low protein and crude fat content. One of the component analysis examples (analysis values of the extract according to Example 1 described later) is shown below.

The soybean hypocotyl extract can be incorporated into cosmetics and the like as a moisturizing agent as it is, but if necessary, it may be used after being subjected to purification treatment such as decolorization with activated carbon to the extent that its moisturizing performance is not impaired.

The moisturizing agent of the present invention may contain other moisturizing substances and auxiliary ingredients in addition to the soybean hypocotyl extract.

The moisturizer according to the present invention can be used as an emulsion, lotion, cream, hair conditioner, hair treatment, hair conditioner, setting lotion, flushing lotion, shampoo,
Conditioners, hair sprays, etc. can be blended into most cosmetics in desired proportions.

Effects of the Invention The moisturizing agent of the present invention is obtained from soybean hypocotyl, which is its raw material, at low cost and in abundance, and can be easily extracted from soybean hypocotyl, so it is cheaper than conventional moisturizing agents. A stable supply is possible. The humectant of the present invention also has the advantage of being highly safe because it is made from soybeans, which are widely used as food raw materials. Therefore, according to the present invention, it is possible to incorporate a moisturizing agent into a cosmetic more fully than in the past, and to produce a cosmetic with good moisturizing performance.
