Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thin type photo interrupter, cost thereof is low, by placing a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element on the same plane of a lead frame and integrally sealing both elements with a light-transmitting resin at the same time. CONSTITUTION:Light-emitting elements 1 and light-receiving elements 2 are mounted alternately to a lead frame 8, wires are bonded, and both elements are sealed integrally with light-transmitting resins 9. The surface of the light-transmitting resin opposite to the surface of the element and the surface of the element are formed at an angle of 45 deg., and beams radiated from the light-emitting element 1 are reflected and made reach to the light-receiving element 2. Light- shielding cases 10 fitted to external forms sealed with the resins are bonded, thus manufacturing an interrupter. The interrupter is thinned because it takes an SIP type in which external terminals are arranged on a straight line, and an occupied area on a mounting can be narrowed.

A conventional interrupter is shown in FIG. 1, and a sectional view thereof is shown in FIG. 2. Conventionally, in an interrupter, a light emitting element 1 and a light receiving element 2 are assembled separately and sealed with a translucent resin, and then a light emitting device 4 and a light receiving device 5 are placed in a case 3 made of a non-transparent resin. It is formed by inserting and fixing the elements so as to face each other, and fitting the stopper 6 into the case. Therefore, when putting the light emitting device 4 and the light receiving device 5 into the case 3, it takes a lot of man-hours and is expensive. Furthermore, since the elements are opposed to each other, there is a drawback that the external terminal 7 has a thick outer shape.

The present invention will be explained below using examples. FIG. 3 is a sectional view of the interrogator according to the present invention, and FIG. 4 is an explanatory diagram of assembly. A light emitting element 1 and a light receiving element 2 are mounted on a lead frame 8.
are mounted alternately, wire bonding is performed, and the light-emitting element and the light-receiving element are integrally resin-sealed with a translucent resin 9. At this time, the surface of the translucent resin facing the element surface and the element surface are formed at an angle of 45 degrees, so that the light emitted from the light emitting element is reflected and reaches the light receiving element. The resin-sealed outer shape and the light-shielding case 10 that fit together are glued together to form an interrupter.

As described above, according to the present invention, it can be manufactured at a lower cost than in the past. Moreover, since it is of the SIP type in which the external terminals are arranged in a straight line, it has the advantage of being thin and occupying a small area when mounted.
