Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は光デイスク装置用の情報記録媒体に関する。
光デイスク装置は磁気ディスク装置に比し記憶容量およ
び価格の面において非常にすぐれておυ、画像処理シス
テムにおける画像情報ファイル装置及びオフィス・シス
テムにおける文書ファイル装置として注目されている記
録装置である。
これまでに各種の光デイスク装置の開発がおこなわれて
いるが、これらのうち、光を照射し熱により溶融または
蒸発させ孔を形成することによって情報を書込み、反射
光または透過光によシ穴の有無を検知することによって
情報を読取る方式(以下熱溶融式と称する)が最も期待
されている。
熱溶融式光デイスク装置の情報記録媒体(以下単に情報
記録媒体と称する)は、光の照射によって容易に孔を設
けることができることのほか、物理的化学的に安定であ
ること、特に耐食性のある合金等、耐食性を備える材料
を記録材料として用いる方法、もしくはテルルTe、ビ
スマスBi等を記録材料として用いその表面に一酸化シ
リコンStO。
アルミナA4鵞Os等の七16クス保護膜を設ける方法
が用いられている。
これらのうち、ロジウムRh、金Au等の金属は高価で
あるのみならず、熱によって穴を形成することが比較的
困難、すなわち情報書込み感度が低く、また合金は温度
上昇によって光の反射率、透過率あるいけ吸収率が変化
し、情報読取υにおけるSN比及び感度が低下し易いと
いう欠点があんこのため、テルルTe、ビスマスB1等
を記録材料として用い、その表面に無機保iIΦ膜を設
ける方法が最も実用的である。またこれらのイ:4相は
、一般に、ガラスあるいはアクリル4む↑脂等の透明な
基板上に蒸着によって設けるのであるが、重し1及び破
損防11−のためアクリル樹脂基板を用いる方が多いO ととるが、アクリル樹脂活版の上にテルルTe。
ビスマスB1等の記録材料を蒸着し、更にその上に一酸
化シリコンsho、アルミナA4203等の無機材料を
蒸着した記録媒体においては、構成するそれぞれの材料
の熱膨張係数が異なす、シかも一酸化シリコンS i 
O,アルミナAt203等の無機材料は延性が低い。こ
のため、情報書込みにより温度の上昇が生じたとき、記
録材料は延性が高いので特に問題を生じないが、−酸化
シリコンSiOやアルミナAt203等はクランクを生
じたり、はく離したシ、おるいはi己録媒体全体に有無
な歪を生ずるという問題があった。
本発明は前記のような問題を解決するためになされたも
のであり、温度変化によってクラ、りを生じたり、はく
離したりあるいけ有害な歪を生じたりすることのない保
;1φ膜を備えた情報記録媒体を得ることを目的とする
すなわち、本づIξ明は、基板の上に設けた記録材料と
、その保護膜として設けるセラミックス層との中間に組
成が連続的に変化するサーメツト層を設け、記録材料と
保護膜との間において材料の物理的性質が浄激に変化し
ないようにすることにより、保護膜の強度を向上するよ
うにしたものである0 以下、図に示す実施例により、本発明の要旨の具体的々
説明を訃となう。
図において1はアクリル樹脂基板、2はテルルTe層、
3はテルルToと後記−酸化シリコンSlO上に275
Aの厚さに蒸着され記録層を形成する。
3− サーメツト層3はテルルTe層2の上に5OAのメット
層3と一酸化シリコン810層はテルルTe層2の保護
層を形成する。なお、サーメツト層3はテルルTeJm
2を形成したあとテルルT、 eの蒸着量が次第に減少
し7てゼロになるように制御し、一方これと同時に一酸
化シリコンS10の蒸着量をゼロから次第に増加するよ
うに制御することによって形成する。
このようにして構成された情報す目録媒体の情報書込み
感度及び情報読取り時のCN比は、アクリル樹脂基板1
の上にテルルTe層2のみを形成した場合とty ’、
’同じであった。従来の情報記録媒体、すなわちテルル
Te層2の上に保噛層として一酸化シリコン810層4
を直接形成したものは、アクリル樹脂基板1の上にテル
ルT e /l# 2のみを形成したものに比し、情報
書込み感度は10チ以上、情報読取り時のCN比は5d
B以上の低下があったのに対し、本実施例においてはこ
のような低下は全=4− く見られなかった。
一酸化シリコンS i OM 4の温度上昇によるクラ
ック、はく離及び歪に関しては、相対湿度90’%の室
内において65℃を中心とし、15℃の温度変化f10
001000時間て1日1ザイクルの割合でおこなった
結果、全く異状なかった。
記録材料としてテルルTeの代りにビスマス旧を用いた
場合においても同様な効果が得られた。
また、上記のような効果&:j:、−酸化シリコ+iO
層4の厚さを非常に薄くした場合においてもほとんど変
化がなかった。
以−ト説明したように、本発明によれば温度変化によっ
て保護1漠にクラックを生じたり、はく離したり、記録
媒体全体に有害な歪を生じたりすることがなく、情報書
込み感度およびCN比のすぐれた情報記録媒体を得ると
とができる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 情報の書込みにおいては光を照射し加熱することにより
    所要位置に穴を形成し、情報の読取りにおいては光を照
    射し所定位置の穴の有無を検知する情報記録媒体におい
    て、組成が連続的に変化するサーメツト層を介して該情
    報記録媒体表面にセラミックス層を設けたことを特徴と
    する情報記録媒体。
