Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は熱可塑性樹脂幅合材製品と他片1杓との結合
方法に係り、特に強化相としての長線AtFf含んだ複
合相製品と他笥狛とを結合する方法に関する。
熱可塑性樹脂製品と他部材とを結合する方法として、樹
脂側に結合用の突起を−1また他部材の側に結合穴を大
々形成するとともに、この結合突起を結合穴に嵌入させ
てその先端部を超音波振動ホーンにより押し潰し、同先
端す分を上記嵌合穴よりも大径の抜は止め頭部、として
形成することによシ熱可塑性桶脂と他f!PS杓とを結
合する方法が知られている。
この結合力法は、熱可塑性樹脂が強化材としての長繊維
を含んだ複合材である場合にも適用可能であると考えら
れる。そこで本発明者等はこのような複合材製品と他部
材とを上記方法によって結合することを試みた。ところ
が松金相製品の結合突起を従来の方法で押し潰して形成
した抜は止め頭部には中足の強度が得られないことが判
明した。
この事′l′lvを第3図に基ついてより具体的に説明
すると、図において10.12は夫々長縁k14を含ん
た複合相製品及びこれと結合されるべき他部材を示すも
のでるり、へ金相製品10には結合突起106が、1だ
他す材12には突起106と嵌合する結合穴20が夫々
形成されている。これら複合相製品10と他部材12と
の結合は、超音波振動ホーン110i結合突起106の
先端部に抑付けて同部分を発熱軟化させ、以てル都成形
…1112に沿った形状の梼り止め頭部114 (第3
図中)参照)を形成することにより行なわれるのである
が、このとき長縁I@14は結合穴20の外周縁部に向
ってうまく流動せず、そのま萱の位置で押漬されたよう
な状態となる。即ち、抜は止め頭部114を形成する際
には主として樹脂成分か半径方向外側へと流動して長繊
維は中央部分に集中し、この結果抜は止め頭h 114
におりる結合穴20の外周縁部と係合すべき部分は樹脂
リンチ都116となって結合強度を弱めることか判明し
たのでおる。
本発明はこのような事情を背景として為されたものであ
り、上記のような結合強度の低下をもたらさない長繊維
強化の熱可塑性樹脂轢合拐製品と他部材との結合方法を
提供することを目的とするものである。
以下、本発明の実施例を第1図(A)乃至(D)に基つ
いて具体的に説明する。
図において10は強化材としての長繊維を含んで所箪形
私に成形された熱用塑性樹脂複合材製品であり、12は
これと結合されるべき金属その他の材料から成る他部材
である。図に示される複合相製品10は、知合相シート
を金型内でスタンピング成形して得られたものであり、
長繊維14はその際の材料の流れ方向に配向している。
この製品10と他部材12とを結合する手順として、先
ず製品lOに所定寸法の円柱状結合突起16が形成され
るか、この突起16は製品10をスタンピング成形する
際に同時に形成される。このとき長繊維14は突起16
の突出方向、即ち突起16の細心方向に向って配向する

6の高さ方向に形成されるが、中心穴18の大きさ、深
さによってはスタンピング成形時に長繊維14が突起1
6の先端部1分1で十分に流れ難くなるから、このよう
な場合においては突起16を形成した後にドリル島の工
具でこの中心穴18を形成するととも勿論可能である。
突起16と中心穴18とか形成されたところでこれを、
突起16と一同し径で予め他部材12に形成されている
結合ン(20に嵌入させる(第1図内に示す状態)。次
いで突起16の先端部が超音波振動ホーン22により変
ルさせられて抜は止め如耐、24 (第1路側)#照)
か形成されるのであるが、このとき結合突起16に含ま
れる長縁h14の流れを良くするためにホーン22の頭
部成形面26は次のような形状に走用されている。即ち
、頭部成形面26は中央筒に同って漸次深くなるような
凹曲UIilとして形成されるとともに、その中心部に
は前記結合突起16の中心穴18に嵌入し得る中心突起
28が&けられ1つこの中心突起28の付り根部分は上
記凹曲[Iiへと連続するなだらかな裾広がりの曲面と
してt’rz成されてj/−16゜尚、中心突起28の
先端部及び中心穴18の開口周縁かには両者の嵌合を容
易ならしめるための丸味(または面取り)が付けられて
いる。
このような頭部成形面を伽えた超音波振動ホ−ン22を
、第1図中)に示されるように中心突起28が中心穴1
8に嵌入する状態で結合突起16に押付けると、結合突
起16先端fh>は所定の押圧力の下に加えられる超音
波振動により発熱軟化し、中心突起28の付は根部分で
先ず外側へと押し拡けられ、次いで11図C)に示され
るように頭部成形面26の凹曲面に沿って反り返るよう
に変形さゼられる。illち、結合突起16は前記第3
図に示されるようにその細心方向に押し潰されるような
状態とはなら丁に全体が一旦外艶へと反シ返るように変
形した後成形面26内を充てんするように流動変形して
抜は止め頭部を形成する。そのため長繊維14と極脂成
分との分離を生じず、結合突起16は長繊維14が廼は
均一に分散した状態を維持しつつ貧形し得るのでhる。
この結果、長繊維14は抜は止め耐熱24の外I司笥)
にもよく行き渡って樹脂リッチ都を生せしめず、且つ長
繊維14の流れ方向も駒部24の半径方向外側に向って
延びるように比較的揃った状態となるから、複合相製品
10と他部材12との間の良好な結合強度が得られるの
でるる。
尚、この結合強度及び上記頭部24成形助の結合突起1
6変形の方向性は中心穴18の直往、渦・、さによって
影智を受けるから逸当な値で選定することが望ましい。
−り的には中心穴18の直m kz結合突起16の外径
に対して115〜1/2の範囲が良く、l/4〜215
の範囲か特に良好でめり、またその深さは水底lが他部
材12の外表面よりも外側に位置する深さ、hl」ち結
合突起16の基端から穴底面までの距翻Eが他に相12
の結晶穴周辺における厚さよりも大きくなるよりに選定
することが望ましい。
但し、結合強度が僅かに低下することをa1谷しる。図
において、複合相製品10の結合突起32に形成された
中心穴80は製品10を貫通する状態で形成され、また
超音波振動ホーン34の頭部7成形佃36に形成された
中心突起38は、結合突起82の他部材12から突出す
る部分の長さと陥+1JJじ長さ、R1」ち、結合突起
32の先端が中心突起38の付は根比)分にmlしたと
きに、中心突起38の先端か他部!y312の外表UL
i1近傍に連するような長さとされ、結合突起32の内
部が中心穴3oへと逃は込むことlくよシ薙実に外側へ
と反シ返らされるようになっている。本実施例における
結合力法は、製品10の結合突起32を他部材12の結
合穴20に嵌入させる工& ((A)の状態)、超音波
&鮫、ホーン84を結合突起32に押付けてこれを外但
jjへと反り返らせ、且つ成形面36内に充てんさせて
抜は止め頭部40を成形する工程(申)、(C)、(D
)の状m+)を含む点で前記実施例と同様であシ、その
手順も同様でるるから詳しい説明は省略する。
尚、本発明は、結合突起の横シ1面形状を正方形等円形
以外の形状にするなど、当業者の知識に基づいて適宜亥
史して実施することが可能である。
以上詳記したように、本発明に係る長繊維強化の熱可塑
′IyI:樹11i17複合拐製品と他部材との結合方
法は、(イ)長縁&:強化の熱用塑性樹脂知合材製品の
成形時に、該複合相の一部奮薩起させて柱状の結合突起
を形成する工程と、(ロ)該結合突起の形成と同時に、
または形成の後に、該結合突起の少なくとも先端部の中
心に、該結合突起の尚さ方向の中心穴を形成する工程と
、(ハ)前記結合突起を、該松合材製品と結合すべき他
部材に予め形成されている結合穴に嵌入させる工程と、
に)該結合穴から突出した結合突起の先端に、滑らかな
り曲lの中心に中心突起が形成された頭81.成形…I
を係jえた超音扱振動ホーンを、該中心突起を前記中心
穴に嵌入させる状態で押し当て、該結合突起の中心穴周
辺す分を発熱軟化させて該中心突起およびb曲回に泊っ
て外側へ反り返らせ、01」記結合穴より大径の抜は止
め頭Sを形成する工程と、を含むことを物像とするもの
である。
かかる結合方法は、強化材繊維を扱は止め頭部の各部に
はは均一に行きわたら+得て大きな&!l自強度を確保
し得るという優れた効果を奏する。

Claims (2)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)  長線す強化の熱可塑性樹脂複合材製品の成形
    時に、該軸合相の一部を隆起させて柱状の結合突起を形
    成する工程と、 該結合突起の形成と1〜時に、または形成の後に、酵結
    合突起の少なくとも先端部の中心に、該結合突起の高さ
    方向の中心穴を形成する工程と、 前記結合突起を、該複合相製品と結合すべき他す材に予
    め形成されている結合穴に嵌入させる工程と、 該結合水力・ら突出した結合突起の先端に、滑らかな[
    巧曲面の中心に中心突起が形成された頭部成形山1を餉
    えた超音波振動ホーンを、該中心突起全nl1jL−中
    心穴に嵌入させる状態で押し当て、該結合突起の中心穴
    周辺部分を発熱軟化させて該中心突起および凹曲If1
    1に沿って外側へ反り走らせ、前記結合穴より大径の抜
    は止め頭片)を形成する工程と を含むことを特徴とする長繊維強化の熱可塑す樹脂複合
    材製品と他hhとの結合方法。
  2. (2)前記結合突起の中心穴が該結合突起の形成と(ロ
    )時に円柱状に形成されるものであり、かつ該中心穴の
    直径が該結合突起の山径の115〜l/2の範囲から選
    定され、該中心穴の深さが、該結合突起の基端から該中
    心穴の底[f]Iまでの距離が前記他!I3相の前記結
    合穴周辺におりる厚さより大きくなるように選定される
    特許請求の範囲第1項に記載の結合方法。
