Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase a metal sulfide mineral, etc., without increasing waste gas in amount by eliminating or holding the burning amoung of oil of an auxiliary fuel burner constant in smelting and by varying O2 concentration of fuel air and the total amount of blown air instead.
CONSTITUTION: When a smelting furnace, a converter, etc., are used for continuous operation, the burning amount of oil of an auxiliary fuel burner, O2 concentration of fuel air, and the total amount of blown air are adjusted in smelting. As a result, the temperature and rugulus quality of a solution are controlled. If the amount of blown air through lance pipes decreases and the reaction rate of the solution is decreased possibly, some of the lance pipes are separated and the amount of the blown air regarding the separated pipes is held constant in smelting. Consequently, the heating rate of the solution in the furnace is increased and the life of the furnace is prolonged.
