Abstract
PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a product contg. less chlorine by regulating the amounts of used potassium chloride and sulfuric acid so as to almost satisfy the stoichiometric value and by forcing the mixture for reaction to be conveyed and kneaded in accordance with the solid-liq. state. CONSTITUTION:Potassium chloride and sulfuric acid are fed to a reaction furnace 1 from the starting material feeding inlet 3 in 1-1.06 equiv. ratio of sulfuric acid to potassium chloride. They are evenly agitated and conveyed with an agitating means 2 in the form of a slurry contg. excess liq. in the early stage, and in the latter reaction zone in which a solid phase continues, the mixture for reaction in the funicular to pendular state zone is well kneaded with the means 2 provided with forced kneading function. As a result, a trace of potassium chloride remaining in produced potassium sulfate lumps reacts with relatively much acidic potassium sulfate existing around the lumps. During this time, the furnace 1 is maintained at a prescribed temp. by transferring heat from a combustion furnace 7 through a muffle 6.
