Abstract

Method of producing animal food grade phosphates, such as monocalcium phosphate, dicalcium phosphate or mixtures thereof, by direct reaction between phosphoric acid and Ca-containing materials, characterized by reacting a pre-heated suspension of finely ground calcium carbonate with a suitable quantity of preheated phosphoric acid, introducing the reactants into a short, tubular reaction zone, open at one end, thereby giving off gas and intensive mixing of the reactants in the reaction zone, and the gas formed expels and expels the foaming reaction mixture from the tubular reaction zone, substantially completing the reaction while the individual particles of the mixture are freely suspended in air or gas, and then collecting the reaction mixture, in the form of a granulate free flowing which has improved handling properties.
