Abstract
527,302. Phosphates. STURTEVANT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and PARRISH, P. March 31, 1939, No. 10122. [Class 1 (iii)] [Also in Group I] Calcium superphosphate and fertilizers containing phosphates and nitrogen, with or without potassium are granulated by mixing them with bentonite and supplying steam during the granulation. The proportion of the bentonite may be 0.25-0.5 per cent., which may be first mixed with 7.5 per cent. of the fertilizer, the mixture being then mixed with the remaining bulk. In the apparatus described, the mixture is fed from a hopper 1 to a rotary granulator 2 having a corrugated surface 4. Steam is introduced by perforated pipes 7. The granules pass then into a dryer 9 into which hot gases are introduced at 12.
