Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain potassium sulfate of a very low chlorine content for fertilizer by using sulfuric acid in a sulfuric acid to KCl equivalent ratio of 1.07W1.4, reacting them at the melting temp. of the resulting acidic salt or above, and maintaining them at a wet cake state at the end of the reaction, and kneading them.
CONSTITUTION: When sulfuric acid and KCl are reacted to manufacture potassium sulfate, sulfuric acid is used in a sulfuric acid to KCl equivalent ratio of 1.07W1.4, preferably 1.1W1.2, and the grain size of KCl is adjusted to about 20mesh or less. They are reacted at about 300W450°C (the melting temp. of the resulting acidic salt or above), and the solid-liq. mixture at the end of the reaction is maintained at a wet cake state {funicular (1) zone} and kneaded to obtain normal salt-base potassium sulfate of a very low chlorine content in a short time. This potassium sulfate is a K-contg. compound fertilizer source suitable for tobacco, etc.
