Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent EGR gas from flowing into an air intake passage even if an air supply passage is closed by closing the first supply valve installed in a passage which supplies secondary air into the air intake passage at lean time.
CONSTITUTION: In case air fuel ratio is found to be lean according to an air fuel ratio sensor 60, the first control valve 36 is switched to the atmospheric air side and the interior of a negative pressure chamber 26 is maintained at the atmospheric air pressure, regardless of operation of a temperature control valve 37. As a result, a valve 28 is pressed by a spring 30 and the first supply valve 22 shuts off the secondary air supply passage 17. The second transfer valve 56 is switched so as to communicate with a negative port 36 and negative pressure chambers 44, 46 are both put into negative pressure condition. Accordingly, a valve 48 is pressed by a spring 50 and the second supply valve 40 shuts off an air supply passage 38.
