Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectuate exhaust gas recycling in accordance with the engine temperature, by controlling the EGR action when the engine temperature is high.
CONSTITUTION: A return gas control valve (EGR valve) 18 which is actuated by negative pressure is set in an exhaust gas recycling passage (EGR passage) 16 and an engine suction system is connected with an air fuel ratio compensating passage 38 which introduces atmospheric air in the system while the engine is operated at high temperatures. The passage 38 is connected with a negative pressure actuating chamber 20 of EGR valve 18 through a negative pressure control passage 52 equipped with a check valve 54 which allows atmospheric air to flow in the chamber 20 through the compensating passage 38. The level of negative pressure in the actuating chamber 20 is controlled by a pressure regulating valve 28 to keep the exhaust gas pressure in a constant pressure chamber S close to the atmospheric pressure. A throttle valve 35 controls negative pressure of suction air to the EGR valve 18.
