Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the shock sound with simple constitution, by detecting the overmodulation of an amplitude modulation wave to mute the pop noise of an angle modulation demodulated wave. CONSTITUTION:The AM stereo signal inputted from an antenna is converted to an intermediate frequency by a front end part 1 and is amplified by an intermediate frequency amplifier 2 and is distributed to an envelope detector 3 and a frequency discriminator 4. The output of the envelope detector 3 and a frequency discriminator 4. The output of the envelope detector 3 is applied to one input terminal of a matrix circuit 5 as a sum signal through a delay circuit 7, and the existence of the overmodulation in the output of the envelope detector 3 is detected by an overmodulation detecting circuit 6. Meanwhile, the difference signal of stereo signals obtained by the frequency discriminator 4 is applied to a shock sound eliminating circuit 9 through a delay circuit 8; and if the overmodulation is detected, the difference signal is muted by the output of the overmodulation detecting circuit 6 to prevent the occurrence of the shock sound. The output of the shock sound eliminating circuit 9 is applied to the other input terminal of the matrix circuit 5.
