Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the conversion precision, by making it possible to connect resistances of the same resistance value to resistances in both ends of a register string part. CONSTITUTION:An A/D converter of a mu-law companding rule consists of a segment generating part SGC, a register string part RS, a comparator COM, and a logical control circuit SAR. Resistances of the same value as resistances in both ends of the register string part RS are connected through switches S21 and S22 in parallel to these resistances in both ends. If the precision is not sufficient in the mu-law companding rule of the 8-bit constitution and a modified mu-law companding rule of a 9-bit constitution is used, switches S21 and S22 are turned off and on respectively up to the fourth bit of the step, and switches S21 and S22 are turned on and off respectively for determination of the fifth bit to shift output levels in switches SR1-SR17 by the half bit.
